To Our Community,

We know that you have been waiting to hear from us, sorry it has taken some time and thank you for your patience as we have been processing the ongoing situation and trying to develop meaningful solutions.

We have seen posts citing sexual misconduct by Danny.

The Dead South, as a band, as a company, as individuals, and community members, is opposed to, and does not condone, harmful behaviour of any kind.

Accountability is important. Space for victims is important. Safety is essential and the opportunity to effect change in our community is integral. We will be part of the solution, assist in the ongoing struggle to clear a wide open space for continued dialogue, offer opportunity for healing and opportunity for growth. To this end, The Dead South will be taking the following steps:

  1. Danny has stepped down from the band.

  2. Our band will support local organizations that offer mental health resources, including to survivors of abuse.

  3. We are discussing the impact and future of our song Banjo Odyssey.

  4. We have begun to train our band members and team members on consent, professional conduct, and creating safer spaces for our fans and our team.

  5. We will create and adhere to a code of conduct.

  6. We welcome further suggestions on effecting meaningful change and can be reached at: suggestions@thedeadsouth.com.

It is important we continue to be teachable, to be accountable, and to be mindful as men and community members. Taking lessons from this is our immediate priority. We hope that our action will help in some way to spark healing, and we are hopeful our community will be open to this as a path forward.
